About Wondrous Woodgrains
Hi, I’m Ron Paro—welcome to Wondrous Woodgrains.
My love for woodworking started over 50 years ago in a middle school shop class. I still remember the feeling of turning a rough block of wood into something beautiful—and I’ve been hooked ever since.
After decades working in the tech world, I’ve traded keyboards and conference calls for sawdust and shavings. These days, you’ll find me in my workshop with a band saw, a lathe, and a lot of joy, crafting pieces that celebrate the natural grain, color, and story of each piece of wood.
I work mostly with locally sourced wood—Maple, Pear, Cedar, Pine, Oak, Elm, Box Elder, Hickory, Cherry—usually from trees that were taken down due to storms or overcrowding. I love giving that wood a new purpose, and I believe there’s something special about bringing a bit of the natural world into your home.
Each piece I make is shaped by hand, whether it’s a candle holder, bowl, or vase turned on the lathe, or a small piece of furniture built with traditional joinery like mortise and tenon or dovetails. No two items are alike—and that’s exactly how I like it.
Thanks for stopping by. I hope something here speaks to you.
